Anonymous Cryptocurrencies Book

Anonymous Cryptocurrencies

Worldwide, 1.8 billion people earn their living in the black market. The black market accounts for 23% of the global GDP. The vast majority of the global black market is currently conducted in cash, but a new slate of anonymous cryptocurrencies offers to give greater speed and security to black market transactions. Darknet marketplaces like The Silk Road already conduct billions of dollars in transactions and growth looks likely to continue. Outside the black market people are becoming more concerned with their online privacy following Edward Snowden’s disclosures of invasive NSA surveillance. Bitcoin users are becoming aware that they are not truly anonymous and are turning their attention to anonymous cryptocurrencies. With finite supplies and growing demand, the valuation for these anonymous cryptocurrencies could skyrocket. The future looks bright for anonymous cryptocurrencies.

Anonymous Cryptocurrencies is the first and most comprehensive book published about the emerging space of anonymous currencies. The book starts with the global trends pushing up the valuation of these altcoins, including the growth of the global black market, countercyclicality of the black market and hedging ability of these currencies, and the rise of darknet marketplaces and online gambling. The book then looks at each of the major anonymous cryptocurrency contenders including Darkcoin (DRK), X11coin (XC), Fedoracoin (TIPS), Dark Wallet, Zerocoin/Zerocash, Anoncoin (ANC), Neutrino (NTR), Razorcoin (RZR), Cryptcoin (CRYPT), Safecoin (SAFE), Cloakcoin (CLOAK), Libertycoin (XLB), VeriCoin (VRC), BlackCoin (BC), PinkCoin (PC), NavajoCoin (SUM2), VootCoin (VOOT), CryptoNote, Monero (XMR), Bytecoin (BCN), DuckNote (XDN), Fantomcoin (FCN), Quazarcoin (QCN), Boolberry (BBR), MonetaVerde (MCN), Aeon (AEON). The book finishes with methods of staying anonymous while using these cryptocurrencies and an analysis of who might win the race to become the worlds first widely-adopted anonymous cryptocurrency.

  1. David Miller says:

    Hello, Will Martin!

I have read your book about anonymous cryptocurrencies. Nice work!
However as I’m a big fan of CryptoNote and Bytecoin (BCN) I have some comments on topic.

    1. Lack of information about QuazarCoin

QuazarCoin was launched by a very democratic way after discussion in the community, without premine or instamine.
QuazarCoin has a flat emission curve, can see this via the graph – http://i.imgur.com/AitIgbF.png
Within the next 6 years only 50% of the coins will be produced which makes the coin very attractive from the point of view of miners, users and investors. This means that while users can mine it, devs will be able to construct a major infrastructure around it.
Also QCN has enhanced protection from double-spending.
QCN solo dev is very active and constantly works on improvements. Now he looks for else devs for the QCN team.
The main concern of QuazarCoin is usability optimization. So a some video was made to help with installing and wallet mastering for the convenience of users: http://vimeo.com/96967287 &http://vimeo.com/98711983.

    2. Lack of information about FantomCoin

Fantomcoin is a first merged mining coin amongst all CryptoNote coins. Merged mining allows you to mine 2 coins simultaneously receiving reward from both. Fantomcoin allows merged mining with any CN currency, even the ones that was not yet released. Merged mining FCN with new currencies provides a great amount of security to the fresh coin. Fantomcoin has nice emission curve: only 50% of emission in 6 years.

    3. Bytecoin (BCN) was not premined.

It’s deeply mined or secretly mined, but not premined. You used CPU Coin List as reference and proof. It says “Approximately 80% of this coin was mined before it became widely known”.
Here’s the interview with BCN Dev Team: http://bitcoinist.net/exclusive-interview-with-bytecoin-cryptonote-platform/. The largest stakeholder sits on 1.5% of total emission to date.
Here’s the letter form BCN Team http://bytecoiner.org/about.php#bytecoin_letter. They said bytecoin has large international community.

    4. Lack of information about MonetaVerde

MonetaVerde is the first coin attempting to reach positive feedback between demand and emission. The goal is decline in deflation. The infinite emission is the outcome of a positive feedback, it is not an end in itself. Also Moneta Verde is the first cryptocoin with block reward increasing together with difficulty. MCN uses already existing mining resources (MM) and it’s supply is regulated by mining community. Moneta Verde (it) means “green coin”.

    5. Lack of information about AeonCoin

AEON is an experiment whether open-source practices would work well with cryptocurrencies. The developers strongly rely on the community to decide on further development and services integration. Aeon’s goal is to make CryptoNote simple and accessible for everyone.

    6. More CryptoNote based coins appeared last month: Dashcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=678232.0), OneEvilCoin (http://oneevilcoin.org/), CherryNote (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=695608.0), Infinium-8 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=698727.0;all) and ASAPcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=705494)

Meanwhile you’ve done the great work! Thank you!
But it’s time to make your book even better than it is now by providing readers with up-to-date information.
I can help you with it if you want.

Thank you for the comments David!
I’m working on the August update of the book now and be sure to include all of the updates you’ve given me.
      -Will Martin

  2. Rich Beer says:

Why such a sinister looking character for your cover? That is a cover more suited to a book on fiat currencies. Looking forward to reading your book. Your coinbounce ‘pay with bitcoin’ link isn’t working. I guess I will have to get a 20% discount with purse.io and use amazon 😉
